Fitness trends switched from class-focused workouts and gym time to a wholly virtual environment in 2020 and 2021. Although things are somewhat picking up again, we are witnessing a variety of training preferences. The fitness app ClassPass today published a report that forecasts what will be happening in the fitness industry in 2022.

While it was unthinkable a year ago, July 2021 saw a record number of reservations for in-person fitness classes, with bookings up 10% from before the outbreak. The variety of classes individuals enrol in in 2021 includes anything from yoga to cycling to strength training, which is the most popular exercise. Dance courses were among the top 10 most sought-after bookings of the year for the first time ever.

As workers return to the office, the 5:30 p.m. workout is also returning. On days when they are leaving the office, 57 percent of professionals say they are likely to visit a fitness centre. The lunchtime workout is still common during “WFH” days, with 15% of business people using their lunch periods as a chance to unwind and work out. Unexpectedly, the typical workout session last year lasted 60 minutes.
